1,150 participants enjoy sunny start of the Elfsteden weekend during the 54th Mini Elfstedentocht

With beautiful weather and hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists, the Elfsteden weekend officially kicked off in Bolsward on Saturday, May 23. No fewer than 1,150 participants gathered at the Market Square for the start of the 54th Mini Elfstedentocht: a friendly 40-kilometre cycling tour passing through eleven towns and villages in Súdwest-Fryslân.

Once again, the Mini Elfstedentocht showed what the event is all about: enjoying cycling, atmosphere and Friesland together. Young and old took to the route, enjoying a morning full of music, cheerful crowds and a great atmosphere along the way.

During the tour, participants received an apple and a Capri-Sun, made possible by Poiesz Supermarkten. Due to the warm weather conditions, extra water points were also arranged to make sure everyone could refill their bottles during the ride.

The MINI once again proved to be an event for everyone. From the youngest participant, just 3 years old riding their own bicycle, to dogs happily joining the tour in bike trailers — everyone was able to take part in this sporty and enjoyable morning.

At the finish, all participants received a medal to celebrate their achievement as well as an ice cream from MIN12.

With another successful Mini Elfstedentocht, the Elfsteden weekend in Bolsward has officially begun. The organisation is now looking forward to the coming days, when the whole of Friesland will once again be dedicated to the Fietselfstedentocht!
