Ride the Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour virtually

Dear Eleven-cities cyclist,

Unfortunately, this year’s tour has been cancelled due to the corona virus.

However, there is good news in these strange times. For the first time it is possible to ride the Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour virtually. You will be able to cycle the miles away at home with other cyclists in Zwift.

Join us on Monday 1 June 2020 and test your skills in the virtual world of Zwift.

To participate in the virtual Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour you must have an interactive trainer and use the Zwift programme. From your own home, garden or garage you will then be joining other cyclists for 235 km of the ‘Tempus Fugit’ route in Watopia, which has an elevation of 16 m for every 17.3 km. By registering on the website you will be linked to a ride leader. These ride leaders join their groups on this day. Just imagine, you may be linked to Lieuwe Westra, Pieter Wening or one of the other (former) professional cyclists. In a pack of around 50 riders you will cycle the route with a break in every city (the number of kilometres according to the stamp card). You will be able to communicate with each other virtually while cycling to make sure you do not feel alone on your ride.

How to participate
In order to participate in the virtual Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour you can choose between two distances:

  • the entire route with a distance of 235 km; start 5.00 AM (11 cities)
  • the southern loop with a distance of 92 km; start 10.30 AM (6 cities)

By going to this registration form, you can register for this tour. Participation is entirely free of charge. You must have an interactive trainer and a subscription to the Zwift programme. Interested parties will receive further information at a later time. This virtual Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour is all about the athletic achievement (this tour will not count as a tour for the official Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour).

What do you get:
In the week from 25 to 30 May, you will receive the latest information by email; you will also be sent a digital stamp card to print at home. Every participant who can prove having cycled 235 km or 92 km will receive a Print-at-home online certificate by email. If you want to participate in this unique alternative Eleven Cities Bicycle Tour, go to the website and sign up.

Sporty greetings,

The Board of the Eleven Cities Bicycle tour.
